Thank you for everything

Nanoen - During the past few months, Can Tho has been facing an increasing number of infections day by day. Until now, the pandemic situation has been basically controlled, with some wards and districts of Can Tho city implementing social distancing measures according to Directive 15, as decided by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City. In the battle against Covid-19, we cannot overlook the silent sacrifices of the "white-shirted warriors".

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, doctors and healthcare workers have devoted all their energy and attention to the city's fight against the disease. Below is a heartfelt letter from Thuy Truc - a Nanoen employee, sent to the frontline medical team fighting the pandemic in Vietnam.

Can Tho, September 25, 2021

In the second year of Covid, it has been over 2 months since the resurgence of the pandemic, and it's also a time for me to reflect on my life. Even though I'm in Can Tho, I miss it so much, reminiscing about the days of playing around with friends, especially the joyful atmosphere when going to work.

Over a month ago, someone in my neighborhood got infected and became a red zone with a high risk of infection, immediately requiring quarantine. I can't remember how many times my family and I have been tested since that day, but it's probably more than I can count on both hands.

Seeing the volunteer medical team clad in full protective gear in this scorching heat and rainy weather of this season, I feel very grateful and admire them a lot.

Last night, my younger brother texted me, saying, "I'm about to go back to the frontline again, sister. Can Tho is still not okay." In an instant, I worried about my younger brother. He is a student at the University of Medicine, volunteering to fight the pandemic, and this is the fourth time I've received that message from him. I admire and feel proud of him so much, he dedicates his youth to the community, always striving tirelessly to fulfill his mission. Not only him but all those in the medical team fighting the pandemic across the country are exerting their utmost efforts. Without red capes, only a white color of angels and carrying the courage of a brave warrior!

Carrying the camera behind my father's back, I was allowed to capture the meaningful moments of the local medical team. I feel very fortunate to be the one preserving these precious photos, the resilient images of today's young generation, carrying the heroic bloodline as our ancestors did to protect the country.

I extend my deepest gratitude to the contributions of the medical team and volunteers in the fight against the pandemic. I wish you, your families, and all of you to always be healthy, happy, and safe to continue the noble mission of saving lives.

I hope Vietnam will recover quickly, and Can Tho will return to its original state.

Thuy Truc
